Dnia 4 kwietnia 2020 r. Stanowisko Kierowania Komendanta Powiatowego PSP w Kole o godz. 00.47 otrzymało zgłoszenie o pożarze budynku mieszkalnego w miejscowości Ruszków Pierwszy, gm. Kościelec. Na miejsce pożaru zadysponowani zostali strażacy z Jednostki Ratowniczo-Gaśniczej PSP w Kole oraz OSP Ruszków Pierwszy i OSP Trzęśniew.
Po dojeździe na miejsce zdarzenia pierwszego zastępu przeprowadzono rozpoznanie w wyniku którego ustalono, że pożarem objęte jest poszycie dachowe budynku mieszkalnego. Mieszkańcy opuścili budynek przed przybyciem zastępów straży pożarnej i nie odnieśli żadnych obrażeń. Działania straży pożarnej polegały na zabezpieczeniu terenu objętego działaniem ratowniczym i ugaszeniu pożaru przy pomocy prądów wody.
Prawdopodobnie przyczyną pożaru były iskry z komina spalinowego. W wyniku pożaru spaleniu uległo około 30 m2 dachu. Pożar przez 2 godziny i 20 minut gasiło 26 strażaków.
